Indian environmental short film Act To Achieve has been selected for the prestigious Skyfire Environment Film Festival in the United States, marking a significant achievement for Indian and Goan cinema. Notably, it is the only Indian film chosen for this edition of the festival.

The three-day festival, scheduled from March 27 to 29 across Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa, will showcase approximately 100 films selected from over 200 global submissions. The film will be screened on March 27 at the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience Center, part of Arizona State University in Mesa.

Directed by Goan filmmaker Mario Pimenta, a 21-year-old alumnus of Don Bosco College, Panjim, Act To Achieve is an experimental short that urges viewers to take action against climate change. The film follows a young boy haunted by visions of the escalating climate crisis who draws inspiration from the teachings of Don Bosco, realizing that waiting for others to act is a form of surrender. Through symbolic imagery, he transitions from inaction to initiative—planting a sapling, cleaning his surroundings, and inspiring his peers.

Several scenes were collaboratively shot by Pimenta’s classmates, Sharvi Dhond and Craig Rodrigues. Pimenta has rapidly established himself as a promising filmmaker, with his work being selected, showcased, and awarded at over 26 national and international film festivals.
