Margao – Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir Vidyanagar, Margao, paid a heartfelt tribute to the iconic freedom fighter and journalist Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his death anniversary. The event also marked Patrakarita Din (Journalism Day) in recognition of Tilak’s revolutionary contributions to Indian journalism.

Inspiring Tributes by Students

The solemn ceremony featured a series of powerful performances by students, including:

  • Dramatic skits on Tilak’s life and legacy
  • Inspirational speeches echoing his message of Swaraj
  • Soulful patriotic songs reflecting the spirit of the freedom movement

The presentations brought to life Tilak’s vision of India and highlighted the role of journalism in social transformation.

Aditya Bidre, Channel Head of SAL TV Channel, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he emphasized the need for truthful, fearless, and responsible journalism in today’s digital world.

“Tilak’s newspapers Kesari and Maratha were not just publications—they were movements,” Bidre said. “Today, the right information is our birthright, and the youth must lead the way.”

He urged students to:

  • Verify facts before sharing news
  • Embrace technology and digital tools responsibly
  • Promote honest reporting through blogs, vlogs, and school publications
  • Be fearless, fair, and independent thinkers
