Margao : The third edition of the All Goa Women’s Badminton League witnessed an impressive display of talent and sportsmanship, bringing together female shuttlers from across the state, ranging from nine-year-old prodigies to seasoned players aged 70. The tournament, organized by Feather Touch and led by Vineeta and Dhanya, was held on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2026, at the indoor stadium in Navelim, Margao.

A major highlight of the league was the participation of Goa’s own nine-year-old badminton champion, Amaira Dhumatkar, who is currently ranked as India’s No. 3 seed in her age category. The event saw widespread participation from women across all generations, underscoring the league’s commitment to inclusivity and grassroots development in sports.

The tournament was organized in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa and in association with the Women’s Cell of the Goa Police Pink Force. The grand opening ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Ranjita Pai, former Chairperson of the Goa State Commission for Women, and PI Reema Naik.

In a heartfelt recognition of contributions to the sport, the league honored coach Vinayak Kamat and 88-year-old Dr. Siclatica Rebello. The felicitation was presented by Pravin Shenoy, Secretary of the Goa Badminton Association.

On the competitive front, Team Sassy Smashers, led by Captain Geetika Kohli, emerged as the champions of the league. The closing ceremony was marked by the presence of Saesha Vishwasrao, Superintendent of Indian Customs, who added prestige to the successful conclusion of the event.

The league continues to serve as a powerful platform for empowering women in sports, celebrating their athletic spirit and dedication.
