Coordination meet during Gor Banjara Diwali Festival finalizes plans for historic commemoration; cross-community participation urged.
Vasco : In a significant step towards the historic 350th Shahidi Samagam (martyrdom anniversary) of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, a major coordination meeting was held alongside the Gor Banjara Diwali Festival in Goa. The meeting focused on finalizing promotional and organizational strategies for the nationwide commemoration.
The principal commemorative programs will be held at Nanded, Nagpur, and Navi Mumbai under the leadership of the Minority Development Department, Government of Maharashtra, and the State-Level Coordination Committee. The main ceremony at Yapeko Nadid (Nanded) is set to be graced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis, alongside other distinguished dignitaries.

The Goa gathering brought together a confluence of spiritual and community leaders to ensure the success of the national event. Prominent attendees included religious figures like Shri Babusing Maharaj (MLC, Maharashtra), Mahant Shri Sunilji Maharaj, Mahant Shri Jitendraji Maharaj, and Shri Sardar Sewalal Swamiji.
The meeting also saw strong participation from political and social dignitaries, including Hon’ble BJP Party President Shri Damu Naik, A.B.A. Dharma Jagran Kshetra Pramukh Shri Sharadrao Dhole, National Banjara Council President Shri Vilas Rathod, Dharmrakshak Kisanbhau Rathod and All Goa Banjara Samaj President Shri Anand Angadi, among many other key community representatives.
A Call for Unity
In a move to foster national unity and brotherhood, the organizers extended a heartfelt appeal to the Sikh, Banjara, Labana, Mohyal, Shikalgar, and Sindhi communities to participate actively in both the ongoing Diwali Festival and the upcoming Shahidi Samagam activities. This initiative aims to strengthen the spirit of “Guru brotherhood” and enhance inter-community harmony, honoring the universal sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
The event in Goa has successfully laid the groundwork for a dignified and widespread commemoration of one of the most pivotal events in Sikh history.
