Margao, Goa – In a significant political development, Rajesh Gaonkar, a former BJP Sarpanch of Cotigao and a prominent ST leader, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Gaonkar was officially welcomed into the party by senior AAP leaders, including MLAs Capt. Venzy Viegas and Engr. Cruz Silva, State President Adv. Amit Palekar, and Organisation Secretary Shrikrishna Parab.
Explaining his decision, Gaonkar stated that the 13-year BJP rule in Goa has led to “gang wars, gundaraj, corruption, bad roads, and unemployment.” He affirmed that he joined AAP because it is the only party consistently raising and addressing the issues faced by the people of Goa.
The event was also attended by other senior AAP leaders, signaling the party’s strengthened focus on grassroots expansion ahead of future elections.
