In a pulsating finale that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, Madel/Unjirim emerged victorious in the 7 a-side Curtorim Interward Football Tournament 2026, defeating Novovaddo 3-2 in a gripping contest at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim. The tournament, organized by St Alex Parish Youth, showcased exceptional footballing talent from the region.
The final began with Madel/Unjirim taking an early lead through Floyd Luis, but Novovaddo responded swiftly with Myson Fernandes finding the equalizer. The see-saw battle continued as Floyd Antao restored Madel/Unjirim’s advantage, only for Vicky Cardozo to level the scores at 2-2. With tension mounting, Dawson Sardinha emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal to seal a 3-2 victory for his side.
Chief Guest Rev Fr Ubaldo Fernandes distributed the prizes in the presence of Fr Manuel Dias, Fr Serterio Rodrigues, Fr Micheal Fernandes, Fr Milagres Dias, Rui Menezes, and other dignitaries. Earlier in an exhibition match, Curtorim Altar Boys triumphed over Ambaulim Altar Boys 6-5 in a thrilling tie-breaker.
