Mandar Lad emerged as the undisputed champion of the All Goa Rapid & Blitz Chess Tournament 2026, clinching top honors in both categories. Organized by Serials Chess Club in association with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs (DSYA), GVM’s Chess in School, and Ponda Taluka Chess Association, the event witnessed overwhelming participation from across the state.
The tournament kicked off on April 11, 2026, with the ceremonial first move by Chief Guest Shri Krishna Shetye, Chairman of GVM’s, alongside Guest of Honor Shri Kirtikumar Bhatikar. The Rapid event, held over 9 rounds, saw 254 contenders. Mandar Lad dominated with 8.5/9 points, followed by Joshua Mark Telles and Rishit Gawas, who scored 8/9 points each.

In the Blitz category, conducted over 8 rounds with 232 players, Mandar continued his winning streak, securing 7.5/8 points. Vihaan Tari and CM Niraj Saripalli finished among the top three with 7/8 points each. Chess Guru Goa Academy was awarded the Best Academy Prize.
The prize distribution on April 12 was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Ajay Gaude, Director of DSYA & Executive Director of SAG, along with other dignitaries. The tournament was smoothly arbitrated by Tanishq Kavlekar, Anushka Naik, and their team, with dedicated support from Serials Chess Club members. The event concluded as a resounding success, celebrating chess talent across Goa.
